CHOCOLATE FESTIVAL

Paderborn, Germany (2008)
Title: 'Chocolate festival of City Paderborn‘
Gerhard was the main attraction for the first chocolate festival of the city Paderborn, Germany. He was able to provide 21 chocolate sculptures which made the exhibition to the "largest single-artist chocolate exhibition" of all time.
From a fine art small 500 g marbled sculpture to the life-sized famed "Sexy lady" carved out of a single block of 120 kg of milk chocolate, which was shown and admired on PRO7 and 3sat TV-channels earlier already. He also performed live on stage creating a chocolate body painting on a torso, while the mayor held a speech to the crowd.

The presented sculptures show a broad variety of techniques and possible effects, different textures and surfaces. From hand-piped fine art body paintings, marbled and multiple coloured blocks, a hand-carved, out of a solid block, dragon where the white teeth were implanted at the end like a dentist does, a sprayed and fragile velvety surface as seen on the temple cat, sitting patiently on the floor, white chocolate skyscrapers, created out of supermarket chocolate bars and an unusual combination of a bronze sculpture mask paired with a dark chocolate block and decorated with drops one by one. The sculptures were loved by the thousands of visitors and everyone had a different personal favourite to talk about. But for sure it was a sweet experience and enriching for many of them, as you do not see anything like this easily.
